Should Bob Brently Be Managing the Cubs?
This is a post I wrote about Bob Brently and if he should have gotten a better look last offseason at being the Chicago Cubs Manager. Bob has won a World Series, which many Cubs fans have very experienced. When he won the World Series, he won with a team no one thought would win.

Should Bob Brently Be Managing The Cubs?

Bob Brenly is a former professional baseball player, coach and manager in Major League Baseball. He is currently one of the Cubs TV color announcers.  Bob first managerial job came when he replaced Buck Showalter, now manager of the Baltimore Orioles, as manager of the Arizona Diamondbacks after the 2000 season. In 2001, he led the Diamondbacks to the World Series title in his first season as a manager. The Diamondbacks later fired him after finishing in last place in 2004.

In 1996, Brently got his first broad casting job as a baseball analyst for Fox. After getting fired by the Diamondbacks, he went back to Fox, but that was short lived. In November of 2004, he was hired by the Cubs to be their TV analyst with Len Casper. Those two replaced Steve Stone and Chip Carey. This year will be his 7th season as the Cubs TV color commentator.

Brenly bring to the booth a decent playing career, a managerial record of 303 win, 262 losses, and a wining percentage of 53. Most importantly he brings a World Series ring to the team. So, did the Cubs make the right choice when they hired Mike Quade, maybe they should of gave Brently a better look. He has something that no one in the Cubs organization, other than him, has and it is something that Cubs Fan and players strive for, a World Series championship. In the off season the Cubs should of gave a harder look to Bob Brently to be their next manager because it is only a matter of time before he gets picked up by another baseball club else to be their next manager. If he win another World Series, the Cubs will regret not giving him a chance.
